In painting Beau for a second time, I was aiming for something timeless that would be equally at home in a grand house or my humble sitting room.
After the initial passes of thicker paint to describe the likeness and form, I applied progressive glazes to deepen the shadows, the background and the falling away of the light in the bottom right corner.
As I felt this piece went so well, I consulted the reference material from the collaborative shoot with award winning photographer, Christina Lauder and realised there was much potential for me to explore. At this point, Beau became a project!
